I feel as though I've missed something really important because I have no idea what these zones are that people keep talking about when referring to training. Could someone please enlighten me.

Some replies got lost in the website maintenance. I won't be missing what I said, but someone posted some good links to MAPP content that I would like back.

Stephen Seiler has dropped the MAPP website, but is still publishing: http://journals.humankinetics.com/ijspp-back-issues/ijspp-volume-5-issue-3-september/what-is-best-practice-for-training-intensity-and-duration-distribution-in-endurance-athletes

Nice links, James. The USSA definitions are slightly different that what I have been using, but they are very clear.

    Sailguy:

Here are the links to the Seiler articles I thought were relevant here:

    [Intervals]: http://www.fact-canada.com/discus/messages/10/1950.html?1278693925

[Time Course of Training Adaptations]: http://vivaa.ca/downloads/cat_view/55-nutrition-a-physiology.html (search for "time course" to get to article link)

Another one I found which talks to issues around using heart rate as a measure:

I contacted Seiler and he said he hopes to have an updated "MAPP" back up (on some different server) soon.
